Flat: Hot forged 18/0 stainless steel with a squared, rectangular handle. Forging makes a thicker, heavier piece with clean straight edges. Round: 18/10 stainless steel with a rounded handle that widens to a teardrop at the end, outlined by a fine raised line. The higher nickel content of 18/10 steel gives a brighter polish and better resistance to spotting. Gold, Silver, Black: Silver is the polished steel itself. Gold and black are a color finish applied over the same polished steel.
We stock this set because it finishes the table next to our gold knife block. The flat gold version matches the squared handles of the Styled Settings knives, and we sell the two together as a bundle. The round handle is the more traditional shape for a classic place setting, and silver in either shape mixes easily with flatware you already own.
