Sakura Gelly Roll Classic White is the opaque white gel pen from Sakura, the Japanese company that introduced gel ink in 1984. The ink is a water-based pigment gel that lays down a solid white line on black, kraft and colored paper, and on top of marker, colored pencil and watercolor where most white pens go gray or skip.
Illustrators use it for highlights and catchlights, letterers for accents and drop shadows, and card makers and journal keepers for titles and borders on dark stock. Three tip sizes run from fine detail to bold lettering, and the ink dries waterproof and fade resistant.
Assorted 05/08/10, 6 pens: two Fine, two Medium, two Bold
Assorted 05/08/10, 3 pens: one Fine, one Medium, one Bold
Fine 05, 6 pens: 0.3 mm line for small detail and writing
Medium 08, 6 pens: 0.4 mm line, the all-purpose size
Bold 10, 6 pens: 0.5 mm line for lettering and solid marks
Medium 08 and Bold 10, 6 pens: a mix of the two heavier tips
We stock this with our art supplies because white is the color a sketchbook or card kit runs out of first, and Gelly Roll is the white gel pen artists name first. It goes over finished work on our Strathmore Bristol pads and colored pencil drawings for the last layer of highlights.
